In the framework of the AWEPA programme “Strengthening regional parliaments to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)”, AWEPA and the Parliament of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) are jointly organizing the following activities:
1. field visit / public hearing on the shores of Lake Chad
2. a seminar on parliamentary involvement on the issue of Lake Chad,
3. a follow-up meeting on the actions to be taken at the regional level.
Among others, Hon. Wolfgang Pirklhuber (Senior Parliamentary Advisor for the MDG programme and MP) and Hon. Josep Maldonado i Gili (Head of the Spanish AWEPA Section and Senator) will participate. These activities are a follow-up to the AWEPA seminar held in February 2012 in Equatorial Guinea (Headquarters of CEMAC Parliament) on the parliamentary engagement with the Lake Chad issue.
